Lately I've been re-reading the Girl Genius comic ([link]) and I thought I'd try my hand at making a steam-punk inspired outfit for one (or a few) of my ball jointed dolls.
So the first step was a decent pair of goggles. After all, any mad scientist worth his snuff needs a spiffy pair of goggles, am I right?
This set is my first pair (I have a few more in the works) The lenses are made from a sheet of vinyl sandwiched between two rings from a set of curtain clips (I liked the patina on them). Then the bulk of the goggles are sewn from bits of leather stitched with artificial sinew.
For being a first try I think these have been a resounding success. The lenses are a bit large to be worn over the eyes, but they look fine on the forehead.
The doll pictured is my 70cm Dollzone Yuu sculpt, affectionately known as "Keir".
Ooh, lovely work, especially for your first pair of goggles. I need to get a pair for my own doll when I get him. Goggles are as cool as they are adorable. :3
